The Giggle Inn review
I'm writing this update on my iPhone, sitting in Heathrow airport. I arrived 2 hours too early. God knows how that happened. I suspect Carmen just wanted to get rid of me. Nothing I can do about it now, but at least that gives me time to say hello on here.
Didn't get a great deal of sleep last night as I was up until stupid o'clock editing my podcast. It's a real labour of love. I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to my podcast, it has to be just right before it goes out and I'm still not a brilliant editor. If you don't know what the show is about, where have you been? The Green Room Podcast is a half an hour internet radio show which comes from our comedy club, The Giggle Inn. You get to hear backstage chat and clips of the performances plus a few other bits and bobs. It turned out to be a fantastic night at the club last Sunday. Tim Clark was the host this month and was as brilliant as ever and reinforced his reputation as one of the best performers out there. He introduced Benjamin Crellin who mixed things up and made the audience think, sometimes about stuff they probably wouldn't want to think about. We record the backstage stuff in the interval and then hit the stage again for the second half. After a quick competition for a meal for 2, signed poster, 2 free tickets for the next show and the all important Giggle Inn fridge magnet, Tim introduced the open spot Damian Kingsley. He was amazingly funny. A great delivery which reminded me of Geoff Norcott's. The material was awesome as well and his like-ability factor made for a storming set. Damian was followed by a comic genius. Curtis Walker never fails to have the crowd in the palm of his hand from word one. He is a naturally funny man and never afraid to go off topic to find a gem of an ad-lib created by some interaction with the punters or a tangent he's taken. It was an awesome night to another packed house. To hear exactly how good a night it was check out the podcast at www.thegreenroompodcast.com or www.thegiggleinn.com
Time then to look for my fellow comic buddy, Junior Simpson and my mates from the band Lucus aka 80 Quid to get our flight, catch you later.
